What goes better with carne asada tacos than guacamole? Um. Nothing.
I love guacamole. It’s my favorite summer snack. Sometimes the avocados don’t even last long enough to make it into the bowl for mashing…I just love to eat them with a sprinkle of salt.
Everyone has a trick to making the best guac ever. Well, mine is cumin. Balk at it if you want, but it totally changes the stuff. Including it is to make your summer bbq memorable. To not include it is to, well, miss out.
Ok, not really.
Enjoy!
The Best Guacamole. Ever.
3 Haas avocados
2 limes, juiced
1 handful of cilantro
3 medium roma tomatoes, seeds and soft insides removed, meaty exteriors diced
1-2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 a red or yellow onion, diced
1tsp cumin
salt and pepper to taste
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl together. Mash and stir with a fork if you prefer a smoother guac. Cut with two knives if you like it chunky.
The salt and pepper to taste is probably the most important step. All the flavors should really POP out at you…the avocados will be richer, the cilantro will add a tingle, the lime juice will be brighter…and the salt is what will do it. So taste it, then start with with a couple pinches, stir it in and taste again. Repeat until everything feels happier in your mouth. You’ll be able to tell the difference…I swear!

I love the “Eat!” at the end :)
Making this when I get home from work! Thank you! <3
The cumin is key…just made it, loved it. Will use it to top my carne asada and shrimp tacos at a cookout.
The cumin part sounds interesting. I can just taste the cilaantro.

I totally use a ton of cumin in my guacamole too! Gives it just the perfect kick it needs.

Love your blog! I’m going to be trying out your guacamole this week. I’m working on a ‘I travel to eat” blog and have been doing quite a bit of cooking in my kitchen in Nairobi. I’ll definitely be coming back for more recipes… looks like we have similar taste :) Cheers!
