It rained all last night. Maybe that’s why I slept like utter crap? As soon as the alarm went off, I rushed to the kitchen to fire up the stove to boil water for coffee. My Monday morning respite can be found somewhere in the pour between my french press and my orange-to-red ombre coffee mug.
Cecelia and I share the same mug, which means every morning I get to think of her just a little bit. Nowadays, thinking of her means thinking of her little one too which always brings me a smile.
Last night I was doing dishes, washing that very mug, when I realized, I don’t have that morning experience with nearly enough mugs.
That first 15-30 minutes I’m awake are pretty critical. I need to jam in as much wonderfulnessnessness into that time as I can. Wonderfulness #1: Coffee. Wonderfulness #2: Morning Joe (on a weekday). Wonderfulness #3: happy friend memory.
I may need to start buying mugs in pairs, not for myself, but to give one away to a friend. Not the cheesy kind of mugs either, the kind you almost universally find in the office kitchen pantry. No “TCB” or “I’m kind of a big deal.” Something beautiful or handcrafted, something you can point to and say, “That reminds me of Jenna! Because we were laughing our ass off at brunch when she gave it to me!”
Am I the only one who gets sentimental over ceramic-ware? I’ll blame the misty morning and the just-so light and the fact that I’m holding my orange-to-red ombre mug thinking of my very good friend.
Love this post. I have mugs from Carlisle friends that I use for a boost daily as I’ve not yet located my “tea” person in my new locale.
Hands down my favorite mug! xoxo
Love the idea of buying 2 mugs, and giving one away to a friend! I have a mug a friend gave to me, with a sweet note attached and I’ve been enjoying drinking out of it just because of that. Anyway, love the idea!
