If you love to eat like I do, then you know that nothing can put a person in a worse mood than hunger pangs.
Unfortunately, too many people in Washington, DC live in a constant state of hunger, or go to great lengths to find a regular meal. Enter: DC Central Kitchen and Martha’s Table. Between these two amazing organizations the hungry and homeless in DC are provided short and long-term solutions to hunger, poverty, homelessness and more. Take a moment to peruse their sites to learn more (and donate if you are so inclined – I have!)
This Saturday, January 22nd, a group of chefs dedicated to ending hunger – Alice Waters, Jose Andres and Joan Nathan – are joining forces at a fundraiser for these two organizations. Saturday Night Sips will feature the food and drinks of young, local and extremely talented chefs and mixologists. For $100 you can taste food from Will Artley of Evening Star Cafe, Shannon Overmiller of The Majestic Cafe and more. Drinks from Gina Chersevani of PS7’s and Jeff Faile of Palena and others.
If you’re around this weekend, consider going! These are great organizations, with city and life-changing missions. Purchase tickets here (the food and drinks are totally worth the price – trust me).
See you there?
