Scenes From A Market Demo

And when I say demo…I don’t mean demolition. Though…the “after” scene would have any reasonable person thinking we completely demolished a farm’s worth of fresh veggies. I submit for evidence…Exhibit A:

So, in case you have no clue what I’m talking about Thrifty DC Cook, Mango and Tomato, Florida Girl In DC and I were all invited to demo recipes that included farm-fresh ingredient last Saturday at the 14th and Ust farmers market. I made Veggie No-Bake “Lasagna” and brought Goat Cheese Cheesecake…both included ingredients you could find right there at the market.

It was so much fun! I got a little nervous right before it was my turn…but all was well. I forget how much people love eating food…free food. And talking about food. And learning about food. And it helped that I was holding Ike quite a bit and everyone loves a tiny puppy.

People lined up for samples and to hear how to make the dishes…quite a success.

If we ever get to do this again, I hope you can make  it out. It was a lot of fun…even with the swampishness and the heat. Here’s the run down on what we made with links to the recipes:

  1. Mango and Tomato made a Raw Beet and Arugula Salad with Goat Cheese.
  2. I brought a Goat Cheese Cheesecake and Veggie No-Bake Lasagna.
  3. Florida Girl in DC created a Farmers Market Summer Confetti Salad.
  4. Thrifty DC Cook did a delicious Thai Beef Salad.

  1. Ahh. This makes me so nostalgic for DC livin’. Also, making that lasagna ASAP. Yes, already said that on Twitter, but I really can’t reiterate that enough.
